Egyptian ‘Despacito’ Goes Viral

A musical duo from Egypt took social media by storm after posting their cover of the chart-topper Despacito, performed on Arabic drums. The song was originally sung by Latino music artists Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, and recently popularized by superstar Justin Bieber with a remixed version.

The video was posted by Adel Nabil, who can be seen playing the tabla/darbakeh in the car, recorded by Peter Nageh Gabra who appears to be driving. The two appear to be musicians from Egypt, based on pictures shared on their Facebook accounts.

The video was well-received on social media, with many commenting saying they would pay to hear the two in concert.

However, this is not the first time an Egyptian cover of the hit Latin song has been made. In May, user shady SphiNx طبله سفنكس posted his version of Despacito on tabla, titled ‘Spinx Tabla.’
