Ramallah Nov 22 –Israelis killed on Sunday in three separate incidents, three Palestinians in the West Bank, one of them a 16-year-old schoolgirl.
Soldiers opened fire and killed a 31-year-old Palestinian resident of Beit Fajjar, north of Hebron, after he stabbed and killed an Israeli woman near the Gush Etzion settlement block, according to army reports.
The army said the Palestinian attacked Israelis at an intersection with a knife, fatally injuring one person before he was shot dead.
The injured Israeli was rushed to hospital in Jerusalem where she was pronounced dead.
Earlier in the day and in the north of the West Bank, witnesses, as well as reports from the Israeli army, said Ashraqat Taha Qatanani, 16, from Nablus, was first run over by an Israeli settler when she allegedly attempted to stab other settlers at an intersection south of Nablus before being shot dead by an Israeli soldier.
Gershon Mesika, former head of a West Bank settlement council, told the Israeli media that he was driving by when he saw a girl brandishing a knife and attempting to attack Israelis.
He ran her over with his car, which fell into a ditch, and afterwards an Israeli soldier opened fire and killed the girl.
An Israeli army statement said Qatanani was going to attack Israelis with a knife when “forces and a bystander responded to the immediate threat, shooting the attacker.”
An hour later, a Palestinian identified as Shadi Mohammad Khasib, 30, a taxi driver from Ramallah, was shot and killed when he allegedly attempted to ram his car into Israelis standing outside a West Bank settlement east of Jerusalem.
Israeli police said when Khasib failed in his attempt, he got out of his car and started to attack the Israelis with a knife, which resulted in the injury of one person.
An Israeli settler shot and killed Khasib, said the police.
The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas called for a “strong response” for the killing of Qatanani near Nablus, particularly calling for “teaching the settler Mesika … a harsh lesson” for ramming his car into the girl.
In another incident near Tel Aviv, a Palestinian on Saturday evening reportedly attacked Israelis in the town Kiryat Gat injuring four people.
Police said the attacker, who was said to be 17 years old and from the Hebron area, was arrested a few hours later before he was able to leave town.
The Israeli army has imposed strict restriction on movement of Palestinians in the Hebron area in recent days and sent reinforcements after it said that most of the attackers are believed to be from there.
Hundreds of Israeli settlers demonstrated outside the Israeli government building in Jerusalem on Sunday demanding even harsher measures against Palestinians in Hebron.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, Israel have killed more than 90 Palestinians in the West Bank, Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip since the beginning of October, more than half of them killed following alleged attacks against Israelis.
